December 20, 1969 - April 11, 2021
Tammy Rae Johns, age 51, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 11th, 2021 at her residence with her Mother and 4 children by her side, following a long, courageous battle with lung cancer. Tammy was born in Orlando Florida, at a Navy base to Ruth Ann Curtiss and the late Edward Wayne Hackney. She grew up in central Florida but spent her last 10 years in the mountains of Tennessee. In addition to her father Eddie, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Ronald McKenna. Tammy was a lively woman with a wonderful sense of humor. Anytime you would see her she’d always have the biggest smile on her face. Over the years Tammy received the name Momma T because of her loving, caring, and judge free nature. She always spoke her mind and above all she loved her family so much! Tammy enjoyed the holidays spent with pawpaw on the grill, laughter in the air, and family surrounding her. Those left to cherish her memory include her mother and stepfather, Ruth and Rick Curtiss; Step mother Janice Hackney; four children, BoBo (Bo Davis), Sissy (Holli Davis), Shell Bell (Shelby Davis), and her baby Dinky Doodle (Krystal Davis); 3 brothers, Russell Johns, Billy Hackney, and Wayne Hackney; three sisters, Lisa Williams, Cristy Johns and Mary Ellen Hackney; and seven grandchildren, Liliana, Sophie, Kyla, Fabian, Vallory, Ruthella and Lincoln. Several nieces and nephews, whom she was very close to as well, also survive. A gathering of remembrance for Tammy Rae Johns will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 5, 2021 in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with her close friends, Pastor Rocco Costantino officiating. Music and words of comfort will be provided by Cody Lee Massie. The graveside and inurnment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend will assemble at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton to go in procession to the cemetery. Close friends and family plan to meet at the lions park in Johnson city TN to eat some good food, share memories, and celebrate the life of Tammy! The family would like to especially thank Ruth and Rick Curtiss as well as her 4 children for all the care and support given to Tammy during her battle with cancer. She fought with every ounce of strength she had left but God decided it was her time to come on home. She is resting in the heavens, wrapped in the arms of our Lord, Father God. We know with your smile the sun shines just a little more brighter than it did before.
