Samuel Mark Venable

Samuel Mark Venable, age 70, of Bristol, TN, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Claude Venable and Edna Doris Harris Feathers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mark and Lucinda Morrisett Venable, his maternal grandparents, Sam and Maude Bates Harris and his step-father, Joseph A. Feathers. Samuel was a former employee of Vermont American in Bristol, VA. He was a member of the NRA and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed shooting guns and hunting ginseng. He was an avid lover of bowling and had won championships at both Belmont and Interstate Bowling Alleys in Bristol. Samuel was a United States Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam Era (1971-1975). Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Anthony Venable (Sherry) of Watauga and Louis Matthew Venable (Amy) of Kingsport; three siblings, Michael Venable of Glade Springs, VA; Glen Venable (Karen) of Bristol, TN and Claudia Venable-Rice (Walter) of Madison, AL; a granddaughter, Alyssa Looney (Caleb) and their children, Liam, Emma and Ivy all of Bristol, TN; a special friend and the mother of his children, Donna Cornett of Bluff City; an uncle, Joe Harris (Helen) of Bluff City; nieces and nephews, Eric Rice and Kelly Rice both of Madison, AL; Chance Venable of Raleigh, NC and Kim Blackburn (Mark) of Bristol, TN. A service to honor the life of Samuel Mark Venable will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City with Pastor Gary Rowlette (Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church) officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, prior to the funeral service. Due to the COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. Please understand that we will be following the State’s COVID guidelines. All visitors to the funeral home are required to wear a mask and/or facial covering. Also, social distancing recommendations will be observed. The graveside service will be private in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (New Annex) 215, Heroes Drive, Mountain Home, TN.
