Lura Marie (Watson) Glover “Nonnie”, age 95, of Bluff City, Tennessee went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at her home. Marie was born in Sullivan County to the late Wiley Gaines Watson and Jenny Moss Watson. In addition to her parents, Marie was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Michel Herbert (Herb) Glover, Sr.; a son, Michael Herbert Glover, Jr.; brothers, Vernon Watson, Paul Watson and Carlyle Watson; sisters, Zella Watson, Gladys (Watson) King and Nannie (Watson) Buchanan; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Velve Glover; brother-in-law, Harmon Glover; and her best friends, Wilene Feathers, Janice Boling, Geraldine Kaylor and Peggy Richards, and infant Nephew Patrick Buchanan. Marie always had a project to work on and loved the Lord and was a prayer warrior for her family and friends. She worked at LM Berry, Massengills and Raytheon until her infant son needed full time care for the next 13 years, Mom was his full time caregiver. During that time also she typed the church bulletins for several years. Marie “Nonnie” retired from Sullivan County Schools in 1991. She also enjoyed basket weaving and crocheting and won several blue ribbons at the Appalachian Fair in Gray. She also loved to fish and garden, playing piano and organ and the guitar. Marie was a member of Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church and had taught Sunday School for many years- Mom was never bored! Those left to cherish Marie’s many wonderful memories include her daughter, Laura (Glover) White and her much loved son-in-law, Thomas White; her grandchildren, Chantel Morrell (Brian), Neil White (Libby), Myles White (Jessie) and Brent (Jennifer); great grandchildren, Marlee Archer, Sara Zimmerman, Carter Morrell, Leah White, Nolan White, Bennett White, Sawyer White; step great grandchildren, Katlyn Couper and Dylan Simmons; aunts, Clara Scalf and Mary Perry; sisters-in-law, Anna Lee Hicks (Johnny), Carolyn Nave (Terry) and Naomi Jenkins (Jack); brothers-in-law, Raymie Glover (Mary), James Glover (Betty), Charles Glover (Carol), and Wilma Glover; nieces, Sheila Patrick, Phyllis Bentley, Betty Buchanan and Sonja Eads; a nephew, Rick Watson (Judy); and her longtime friend, Ruth Wassom. A graveside service to celebrate Marie’s life will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 23, 2021 in the Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Jamie Ferguson officiating. Active pallbearers will be Tom White, Neil White, Myles White, Brent Archer and Chris Engleman. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Sean Watson, Carter Morrell, Nolan White, Bennett White and Sawyer White. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 AM on Saturday. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Sean Watson for the care of our Mom and Avalon Hospice, Reverend Jamie Ferguson, Reverend Rusty Verran and Reverend Ruben Farley. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church, 1727 Chinquapin Grove Road, Bluff City, Tennessee 37618 in memory of Marie.
