Lawrence D. Boone

May 7, 1941 - November 13, 2020

Lawrence Daniel Boone, age 79, of Watauga, TN passed away Friday, November 13, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness. He was the son of the late, Oran and Martha Greer Boone. Lawrence was a member and trustee at Milligan FWB Church, Johnson City, TN. He served in the Army during Vietnam 1965-1967. Lawrence was a past member of the Tennessee Melody Boys Quartet for almost nine years. Lawrence loved his family, and enjoyed singing gospel music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene Boone and Harold Dean Boone. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Mary J. Boone, of Watauga, TN; two sons, Lawrence Daniel Boone II and wife Tabitha, of Bluff City, TN and Nathan Glen Boone, of the home; four daughters, Sarah and husband Justin of Elizabethton, TN, Taylor Marie Boone of Blacksburg, VA, Danielle Grindstaff and husband Chad and Nikki Jones, of Elizabethton, TN; four grandsons; two granddaughters; three sisters, Ann Teter, Grace Canter and husband Carl, Charlotte Julian and husband Bud all of Elizabethton, TN; brother, James Boone and wife Johnnie, of Roan Mountain, TN; a special sister-in-law, Judy Boone, of Elizabethton, TN; a very special Army buddy, Wayne Greene, of Perry, GA; many nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service and interment to honor the life of Lawrence Daniel Boone will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 16, 2020 at Greer Cemetery, Burbank Community, Roan Mountain, TN with Rev. Mark Street, officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Seth Clawson, Colby Jamerson, Scott Fletcher, Bob Lane, Brian Dugger and Justin Nave. Honorary pallbearers will be D.H. Byrd, Kenneth King, Joel Street, Barry Winters, Earnest King and Lee King. As requested by his family his son Lawrence Daniel Boone II will do his last salute in honor of his military service. Everyone attending the graveside are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. on Monday to go into procession to the cemetery. The family would like to thank Mountain Home VA, Dr. Gerry Boccarossa, Dr. Luther Ward, Ballad Hospice, and his nurses, Candace, Ivey, Melinda, Greg and Darian for all their love and care during his illness.
