Julie Renee Potter Gillis
April 26, 1969 - May 4, 2022
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven” Ecclesiastes 3:1 KJV On Wednesday, May 4, 2022 our beloved wife, mother, sister and daughter, Julie Renee (Potter) Gillis took the hand of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and entered into his kingdom. Born on April 26, 1969 in Hickory, North Carolina, Julie was the daughter of Kaye Baumgardner Potter of Hampton and the late John “Johnnie” Potter. Julie was a graduate of Hampton High School where she excelled in her studies. She was a bright, joyous and Christian lady full of love. Julie had a gentle grace that very few people possess. She was a caretaker of her family and loved them beyond measure. Even as her health declined she remained the cornerstone of her family. Julie will be very missed by so many that knew her and loved her but we know she is now healed and walking the streets of gold. Those left to continue Julie’s legacy and cherish her memory include her loving and devoted husband, Sam Gillis of the home; her mother, Kaye Baumgardner of Hampton; her brothers and sisters, Dawn Simpson (Tony Godsey) of Elizabethton, Rebecca Potter (Paul Smith) of Piney Flats, Jared (Sheri) Potter of Watauga and Ben (Emily) Potter of Chuckey. Many beloved nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors that meant so much to Julie survive. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Friday, May 6, 2022 in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The graveside service will follow in the Scalf Cemetery in Watauga. Active pallbearers will be selected from Julie’s family and friends. Words of comfort can be sent to the family through our website, www.tetrickfuneralhome.com. Tetrick Funeral Home-Riverside Chapel, 211 North Riverside, Elizabethton, TN 37643 (423) 542-2232 is honored to serve the family of Julie Renee (Potter) Gillis.
