James “Randy” Syck, age 66, of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020 at his residence. Randy was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts to the late Charles Vernon Syck and Patricia Carol Blackburn Syck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bambi Syck. Randy was a proud United States Air Force veteran, where he served during the Vietnam Era and was a Communications Center Specialist. He was also in sales, having sold truck parts for the Mack Truck Company. Randy enjoyed fishing and hunting and was known affectionately as “The Thumb” for his exceptional gardening ability. Those left to cherish his memory include his sisters, Pamela Syck, of Knoxville and Sivi Elliott, of Nashville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service to honor the life of James “Randy” Syck will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 25, 2020 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (New Addition) 215 Heroes Drive, Mountain Home, Tennessee with Chaplain Adam Page, officiating. Military honors will be accorded. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 PM on Thursday. Veteran’s Administration requires all attendees wear masks due to the ongoing COVID-19.
