Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” II Timothy 4: 7-8 Doran Erwin Greenwell, age 75, of Elizabethton (Stoney Creek Community) went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 31, 2020 from the Johnson City Medical Center. Doran was born on March 19, 1945 to the late William Albert and Hazel Greenwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Misty; his brothers: Bill, Millard, Jackie and adopted brother, Ricky Greenwell; and his sisters, Mary Evelyn Greenwell and Patsy Freeman. Doran always wanted to keep people laughing with his jokes, he also loved to watch Gunsmoke in the dayroom at Signature Health and Rehab Center of Elizabethton. He is survived by three grandchildren; a brother, Tom Greenwell, of Delaware; his sisters, Ruby Louise Ray and husband Jerry, Betty Markland and Susan Daughtery. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service to honor Doran’s life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2020 in the Lakeview Cemetery in the Little Milligan area of Butler, Tennessee with Pastor Jerry Davis, officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 AM on Saturday. The family will hold a visitation between the hours of 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, September 4, 2020 at God’s House (Stateline Road). The family would like to thank the staff and workers at Signature Health and Rehab of Elizabethton, he had many friends there. He told all the women there that they were #1 in his life. He really loved it when Lois and Barbara would come in to see him. Always made me bring extra grapes for him and Tracey to eat together. He loved everyone there, Sue Markland, Harvey, Guy Oliver and all the rest. Thank you all for making him smile. But most of all his loved our Lord Jesus Christ. Now he can see all the glory that’s been waiting for him! We would also like to thank his best friends: William George Pierce and Butch Peters for always coming to see him and all the others that took the time to go see him and his special nurse he called Sunshine. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carter County is mandating that all citizens who live in or visit wear masks or facial coverings in public all visitors to the graveside service are required to adhere to this mandate.
