Colby Gene DeBusk

September 1, 1930 - December 17, 2020

Colby Gene DeBusk, age 90 went home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 17, 2020. He was born in Rose Hill, Virginia to the late Harve DeBusk and Alice Turner DeBusk. As a young boy, Colby, along with two of his older brothers were raised by the late Lester “Spike” DeBusk and his loving wife Maude who is living in Virginia. Certainly, their influence on him along with a heritage of being among a hard-working family from those farmlands is the reason Colby loved his family and cherished those memories. Construction work as a crane operator in his early years took him into WV where he met his dear wife of 68 years Olga Marie Price DeBusk. Colby was a business owner with his wife “Corky” in Madison, WV where they enjoyed serving the people through “Corky’s Flower Shop and Catering” for 41 years. Colby retired from U.S. Steel/Carbon Fuel Division in WV where he was a welder fabricating and rebuilding underground coal mining equipment. Family and friends were instrumental in Colby accepting the Lord as his Savior at that time in his life. He became a member of Bible Baptist Church, Danville, WV. Moving to Tennessee in 2000 he then became a faithful member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church, Gray, TN coming to know and love so many friends in this area as well. To all of those who have prayed, loved and cared for him in a wonderful way, especially those at Four Oaks Healthcare, the family is overwhelmed with grateful hearts and thank you for everything. He is continuing to smile in Heaven today because of Christ in Christmas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Gene DeBusk and brothers and sisters. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Olga Marie Price DeBusk; daughter, Debbie Mullins and husband Steve Mullins; grandchildren, Wesley Mullins (Laura), Katy Barker (Shannon), Levi Mullins (Brittany), Robby DeBusk, Sari DeBusk and great grandchildren, Anna, Malia, Noah, Bailey, Charles, Oliver and Kayson. Several family members, nephews and nieces also remain. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City, TN. A celebration of life service will follow with Pastor John Herdman officiating. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. Please understand we will be following the State’s COVID guidelines. We also ask all guests and family members attending visitations and services to please bring and wear a mask. A private family graveside service will be held at the DeBusk Family Cemetery, Rose Hill, VA, Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 12:00 PM. His grandson Levi Mullins will be officiating the graveside service.
