Clay Porterfield Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Clay Porterfield of Roan Mountain, TN went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2022. He passed peacefully in his home with his loving and devoted wife, Emily, and his beloved dog, Chama, by his side. Clay was born in Albuquerque, NM on February 13, 1942. A loyal employee of Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, TX for 42 years, he served as a project manager on a number of fighter enterprise programs including F-111, F-16, and F-35. However, his priority in life was being a great Dad and Granddad. After retirement, Clay lived life to the fullest through his faith and his passion for family, sports, motorcycles, and music. He loved football, playing and eventually officiating at the collegiate level. President of a Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) chapter, he loved riding his Harley across America, traveling through at least 26 states, but particularly fond of western North Carolina and the mountains of northern New Mexico. Clay found great peace and solace enjoying his heavenly vista in Roan Mountain, an earthly life celebrated in memoriam at his lodge. He is survived by his wife, Emily; his two daughters and their husbands, Robyn and John Myers, and Jodi and David Teis; his four grandchildren and wives, JC and Lauren Myers, Matt Myers, Colton and Alex Teis, and Ashlyn Teis; his sisters and husband, Karen and Dawell Criswell, and Terria England; his niece, Kim Rayner; and his grandniece, Maddie Rayner. Clay felt so blessed in life and refused to be defined by the adversities he faced. His amazing faith and attitude were and continue to be an inspiration. He found victory in Jesus, his Savior forever. Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton is assisting the Porterfield family.
